Minimum qualifications: Must be a registered nurse or licensed medical technologist with a baccalaureate degree in nursing or medical technology or allied health and greater than 2 years Infection Prevention experience. Will consider advanced training in Epidemiology in lieu of nursing degree. Certification in Infection Prevention plus 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital preferred.

Will join a team of 8- for a total of 9 Infection Preventionists responsible for the Infection Prevention and Control program at our facility as well as outlying ambulatory sites. We are one of the largest employers in the region and have been affiliated with USF Health Morsani College of Medicine since the early 1970s. We have 1,011 beds, a Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, Neonatal ICU, and are one of the leading organ transplant centers in the country. Our Neuro ICU is the largest on the west coast of Florida. Infection Control (Registered Nurse)

Minimum qualifications: 
    •United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible     to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

    •Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State- accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. ◦The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)

    •Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a     State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the     District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience:
 1. Two to three years of infection control experience with demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge of the infection control process of a Health Care System are preferred. 

 2. Knowledge of Veteran Health Administration and other health care regulations and practices related to infection control are preferred.

 3. Familiarity with word and excel computer applications are preferred.
