Minimum qualifications:  Must be a registered nurse or licensed medical technologist with a baccalaureate degree in nursing or medical technology or allied health and greater than 2 years Infection Prevention experience.  Will consider advanced training in Epidemiology in lieu of nursing degree. Certification in Infection Prevention plus 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital preferred.

Will join a team of 7 Infection Preventionists responsible for the Infection Prevention and Control program at our facility as well as outlying ambulatory sites. We are one of the largest employers in the region and have been affiliated with USF Health Morsani College of Medicine since the early 1970's. We have 1,018 beds, a Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, Neonatal ICU, and are one of the leading organ transplant centers in the country. Job Announcement for Healthcare-Associated Infection Prevention Antibiotic Resistant/ HAI Coordinator – Contract

Position Description:
Healthcare-Associated Infection Prevention Antibiotic/HAI Coordinator will coordinate, implement, and promote antibiotic resistance, antibiotic utilization, and HAI activities through collaboration with healthcare facilities and department of health partners utilizing National Healthcare Safety Network surveillance and electronic laboratory reporting resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Promote and provide antimicrobial stewardship resources to heath care providers an the public
  • ​Hold outreach meeting in the for o conference calls or face-to-face meetings with facilities, hospital associations, healthcare coalitions and infection control networks to collaborate and promote AU/AR surveillance activities. 
  • Conduct program evaluations and reports. 
  • Assist with CDC grant progress reports and renewal proposals. 
  • Collaborate with Bureau of Public Health Laboratories' (BPHL) staff on activities such as working with isolates received for confirmatory testing and response to unusual isolates. 

Three years prior work in public health or healthcare performing drug resistance activities.  

Three years of experience with the development of web-based applications using  

Three years experience in epidemiology and health-care associated infections.

Three years experience in infection prevention and control principles using nationally recognized guidelines.  

Two years of experience applying infection prevention and preparedness guidelines to evaluate health care facility practices and make recommendations for improvements. 

Two years of experience and a Master’s degree in epidemiology, or equivalent degree in a health-related field. 

Three years experience working with the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) system. 

Three years of experience using data analysis software such as Statistical Analysis Systems (SAS), Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Access, Structured Query Language (SQL).
